An expensive price tag can quickly sound like “better”—especially when it comes to facials. But price alone tells you very little about whether your skin will actually benefit. What matters more is suitability, clean procedures and a promise you can understand.
Once you have a rough idea of your skin goal (glow, fewer blemishes, less dryness), comparing offers feels much easier—and you can tell sooner whether there is substance behind the appealing name.
Price is not automatically value: 5 criteria for a fair comparison

Price can feel like a quick quality check—but it rarely is. Basic facials often cost around 35 € to 71 €, while premium options can reach about 99 €. That range is mainly down to positioning and cost structure. Whether a treatment is “worth the money” for you depends on other factors.
1) How it works and how clearly it is explained
Does the process make sense? What is each step meant to do—and why is it suitable for your skin condition? Names such as “Lift”, “Glow” or “Detox” are easy to swap out. What matters is whether the explanation behind them holds up.
2) Safety, hygiene and process quality
Some of the price goes towards things you do not see directly: single-use materials, proper instrument reprocessing, clean routines and documented standards. For services beyond conventional cosmetics (e.g. injections), higher prices can also reflect greater complexity and a different risk profile.
3) Suitability for your skin type instead of a one-size-fits-all offer
“Blemish-prone”, “sensitive” and “mature” are only broad categories. A treatment has value when its steps and intensity are genuinely adapted to your skin’s reactions, expectations and daily life.
4) Total cost and follow-up costs
Add-ons (e.g. a massage or mask) may be charged separately—sometimes in the low single-digit euro range. Treatment packages can change both the total bill and your commitment to the studio. Before booking, it should be clear what a single Aquafacial treatment includes. Then there may also be product purchases after the treatment.
5) Results, how they are assessed and service
How are results described: as “feeling fresher”, or more specifically (e.g. a more visibly even skin texture)? Good advice can also add considerable value by giving you clarity—sometimes as a separate item, such as 23 € for 30 minutes.
12 consultation questions: turn marketing language into clear answers

Seeing “Premium” on a menu does not prove that the results will be better. These questions help you make price versus value in facials tangible—including add-ons, packages and possible follow-up costs. For your first appointment, a guide to questions for your first consultation at a beauty studio can also be useful.
1) “What is the specific goal of the treatment?” 2) “What is the rationale behind the treatment?” 3) “Which method is used (e.g. microdermabrasion, soft needling, Hydrafacial)—and what does that mean in practice?” 4) “How is it adapted to my skin type and current skin condition?” 5) “What is included in the price?” 6) “Which add-ons are available—and why these in particular?” 7) “What follow-up costs are typical?” 8) “Are there package prices, minimum purchases or commitments?” 9) “How is hygiene managed and documented?” 10) “What qualifications does the person performing the treatment have?” 11) “How are the results described?” 12) “Why does Premium cost more than Basic?”
Quick check (for you):
– Does the explanation make sense enough that you could sum it up in one sentence?
– After the conversation, do you know what the total cost could be, including extras?
A fair comparison does not start with the price, but with whether the treatment fits your skin goal. Then clean, transparent procedures and a promise about results that you can actually understand matter. Only after that does it make sense to look at extras, packages and “Premium” labels.
It helps to have the 12 questions ready and to think about follow-up costs and aftercare at the same time. If the answers remain vague, a second offer can often give you the clarity you need.
